Committee structure

Full Council decide the overall policy structure and budget for the council. Day to day decisions within this budget and framework are made by the Cabinet. The scrutiny committees monitor the decisions and can ask Cabinet to re look at a decision it made. The scrutiny committees also review services and research issues that are important in the borough. The Planning and Development Committee and the Licensing Committee are the regulatory committees of the council. Council choose the size of committees and who will be the Chair. NB NEARLY ALL COUNCIL MEETINGS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
